Job title: Research Assistant / Research Scientist (Graduate or junior role)

BioMedha is seeking a Research Assistant/ Research Scientist (In vitro biology) to support our teams working on early stage drug discovery projects. This position is a 12-month contract initially. After completion of 12 months, the role may become a permanent role. You will have opportunities to sharpen laboratory skills through On-the-job training and mentoring.


  • Enthusiasm and passion for learning, supporting and executing drug discovery projects
  • Self-motivated, team player with good organisation skills and record keeping
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to learn and adopt quickly
  • Experience of cell culture, plate reader based/ in vitro assays such as cell viability, toxicity, functional assays and biochemical assays
  • Experience of molecular biology techniques such as transfections, qPCR, Western blot and ELISA
  • Experience of using data analysis software for handling biology data (dose response curves)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as assay protocols and safety data sheets
  • Adhering to company laboratory best practices and health and safety policies


  • Bachelors/ Master’s degree in Biological Science related discipline


  • 0 to 1-year experience either in an academic or industry laboratory setting
  • Experience of mammalian Cell culture, microplate-based assays
  • Previous experience as industrial placement or as a graduate role (biology area) would be advantageous

Responsibilities include (On a day-to-day basis)

  • Supporting development and execution of cellular and biochemical assays
  • Maintaining cell cultures for assay development and screening
  • Profiling compounds for activity
  • Lab notebook writing, data analysis and presenting data at internal meetings
  • Supporting and liaising with scientists in setting up experiments
  • Reagent ordering, stocking and preparing reagent stocks
  • Ensuring all lab equipment maintenance and service
  • Following and supporting health & safety aspects (e.g. working practices, waste management)

Our work environment is biosafety level 1 and 2 laboratory facility involves wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the lab.
